EVO ICL Eye Surgery

What Is EVO ICL Surgery?

The EVO ICL is a refractive implant that corrects common vision problems such as nearsightedness (myopia) and astigmatism. The implant is made of biocompatible Collamer material that works in harmony with your eye. This implant is a posterior chamber implant that is introduced through a small incision in the eye and is placed behind the iris (the colored part of the eye), and in front of the natural crystalline lens in order to improve your nearsightedness and astigmatism.

Unlike LASIK, EVO ICL does not permanently reshape the cornea and doesn’t require lifting or removing the outer layer of the cornea. This means the corneal nerves that stimulate tear production are less affected, making side effects like dry eye rare. Plus, the EVO ICL lens is reversible, replaceable, and biocompatible.

The Free EVO ICL Consultation

Like most corrective procedures, the first step is scheduling an appointment to find out if it’s the right solution for you. A free consultation for EVO takes about 2 hours.  You’ll need to be out of your (soft or soft toric) contact lenses for 2 weeks prior to the visit. Your eyes will be dilated during the exam.  Your procedure will be scheduled on a different day. The procedure will be done at St. Clare Surgery Center in Stow. Patients are given twilight anesthesia on surgery day. The anesthesia helps patients to relax during the procedure.

What happens after the procedure?

Generally, most patients will need to use prescription eye drops after surgery for a few weeks- an antibiotic to prevent risk of infection and a steroid to calm inflammation. Your doctor will want to see you for checkups to make sure you are healing well. Generally, patients are scheduled for post-op visits at one day, one week, one month, and three months after surgery.

Can I Get ICLs in Both Eyes at the Same Time?

Yes, both eyes can receive the EVO ICL implant during the same surgical visit. During your consultation, your doctor will go into more detail and review options with you. If you cannot have both eyes done for any reason we’ll work with you to schedule separate appointments for each eye.

Who Is a Candidate for EVO ICL Surgery?

Ideal candidates for EVO ICL typically fall in the range of age twenty-one to forty-five years old with nearsightedness with or without astigmatism and have maintained a stable prescription for at least one year. Are There Any Risks?
