Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons Director of Optometric Services, Elizabeth Muckley, O.D., F.A.A.O,. is an award-winning eye doctor who provides comprehensive eye care for the entire family, as well as concentrates in the treatment and medical management of glaucoma and ocular surface dry eye disease.
A nationally recognized leader in the profession of optometry, Dr. Muckley currently is the President of the Ohio Optometric Association, where she has served on the Board of Directors for 8 years and also as past Legislative Chair. Dr. Muckley has over 20 years of volunteer service in advocating for patients and the optometric profession by regularly meeting with state representatives, senators, and crucial leaders in Ohio government. She also travels annually to Washington D.C. to meet with Congressional Representatives from the 7th and 16th Districts to discuss federal eye care policies and legislation. She participated in the drafting and successful process of the passage of three significant patient centric laws in Ohio.
Dr. Muckley’s passion for managing glaucoma led her to be the 2nd female optometrist to be accepted in the International Optometric Glaucoma Society. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry, where she is a past Chair of the Nominating Committee, and serves currently on the Research Committee. She is also the Education Chair of the East West Eye Conference. Dr. Muckley has received many career awards for her service to the profession and patient care. She was recognized as the 2019 Outstanding Alumni for Marlington High School. She was also named by the OSU College of Optometry as one of their 100 Notable Alumni. In 2007, she was awarded as the Ohio Young Optometrist of the Year, and was then recognized nationally in 2008 as the American Optometric Association’s Young Optometrist of the Year for the United States. This was one of the highest honors in the profession of optometry.
Married with one child, Dr. Muckley enjoys cooking, spending time on Lake Erie, supporting the OSU Buckeyes and gardening. She resides in Hartville.
