To determine if you are a good LASIK candidate, contact us to schedule a no-charge LASIK evaluation. Or, click on this link to take our LASIK self-test and we will call you to schedule an exam at your convenience. During your two-hour extensive pre-operative eye exam, we will measure your prescription and through an array of sophisticated tests and measurements, ensure your eyes are healthy and well-suited for surgery. If you wear contact lenses, we may ask you to discontinue wearing them before the evaluation, to ensure your eye measurements are precise.
At the end of your exam, our caring, highly experienced doctors and staff will determine if you are a good LASIK candidate and will help you decide if this life-changing procedure is right for you. Since many of our doctors and staff have undergone LASIK themselves, along with dozens of their family and friends, you may wish to ask them about their personal experiences with this remarkable surgery.
LASIK Surgery Process
During the all-laser LASIK surgery, the surgeon creates a microscopic flap on the cornea, or clear, front part of the eye using the IntraLase Laser. After making this flap, the surgeon uses a second laser, the VISX® CustomVue™ Wavefront Laser, to reshape the underlying cornea so that nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism are greatly reduced or eliminated. Surgery is generally performed on Fridays at our office in Akron, Ohio.
The procedure takes 10 minutes to complete and most patients return to work and their normal activities by Monday. Many patients report seeing better almost immediately after surgery and we are proud to report that more than 99% of our patients achieve best-corrected vision of 20/20 or better after surgery.
Thank you. Because of the lenses you inserted I can now see people at the pool, can see the clock, and can see the steps under the water. I have swam laps for 50 years because relationships were impossible without my glasses. Now I can greet people and see their response. It's a whole new world. Thank you.
