What’s the LASIK Surgery Process Like?
During the all-laser LASIK surgery, the surgeon creates a microscopic flap on the cornea, or clear, front part of the eye using the IntraLase Laser. After making this flap, the surgeon uses a second laser, the VISX® CustomVue™ Wavefront Laser, to reshape the underlying cornea so that nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism are greatly reduced or eliminated. Surgery is generally performed on Fridays at St. Clare Surgery Center, our outpatient surgical clinic in Stow.
The procedure takes 10 minutes to complete and most patients return to work and their normal activities by Monday. Many patients report seeing better almost immediately after surgery and we are proud to report that more than 99% of our patients achieve best-corrected vision of 20/20 or better after surgery.
